Elephants Leave For AP Forests, Power Restored In Rayagada Villages

Rayagada: Villagers of Rayagad heaved a sigh of relief as a straying herd of elephants returned to the forests in Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, a herd of seven elephants from Birgotam reserve forest in Andhra Pradesh had strayed into Boruhalua and Anija villages in the district on January 9.

To avoid any harm to the elephants, the electricity department had disconnected power supply to the villages where they were spotted. The power was restored once the herd left the Odisha border.

Meanwhile, the Revenue Department has sought a detailed report on the loss incurred by the villagers, based on which, compensations will be provided to them.
