New York: Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the supremely powerful duo who control some of the world’s biggest social media platforms, had publicly agreed two months ago to battle it out in possibly a mixed martial arts match.
Musk today shared new details about his fight against Meta CEO Zuckerberg.
Taking to his social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Musk announced that the match will be held in Italy, and it will be livestreamed on both platforms.
“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location,” wrote Musk.
“Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy.. And all proceeds go to veterans,” he added.
UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) an American mixed martial arts promotion company, was keen on hosting the clash of gladiators. UFC president Dana White had gone on record as saying that he was ready to facilitate the fight between the two tech billionaires.
But Musk’s latest announcement has ruled out the possibility of the fight being managed by UFC.
Further details, such as the date and format of the fight, are awaited.
Musk and Zuckerburg have been publicly critical of each other’s business decisions in the last few months.
Musk had said before his Twitter acquisition last October that Zuckerberg held too much power in the social media world. Zuckerberg then went on to launch Threads, a rival to the social media platform Musk acquired for $44 billion.
