New York: At a time when Elon Musk is effecting sweeping changes at Twitter after acquiring the social media platform, the world’s richest person is making headlines elsewhere too.
Very soon, Musk’s SpaceX may send humans to moon.
He has bagged a $1.5 billion contract to develop its Starship human landing system to transport human beings to the Moon.
While Nasa has launched Artemis-1 mission that will take humans to the lunar world, Starship will be part of long-term lunar exploration plans.

SpaceX — an American spacecraft manufacturer, launcher and a satellite communications corporation founded by Musk in 2002 — has already conducted an engine test of its Starship, where it fired all 14 engines.
Musk’s company is targeting the first orbital flight of Starship by end of 2022 or early 2023.
“Returning astronauts to the Moon to learn, live, and work is a bold endeavour. With multiple planned landers, from SpaceX and future partners, we will be better positioned to accomplish the missions of tomorrow: conducting more science on the surface of the Moon than ever before and preparing for crewed missions to Mars,” Nasa administrator Bill Nelson said in a statement.
