Bhubaneswar: Odisha has recorded a “substantial” decrease in fatal chemical accidents in hazardous industries in the last decade.
The information was shared at the State Crisis Management Group meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy here on Wednesday.
The meeting decided to set up an emergency response centre in the Directorate of Fire Services for immediate response in the event of a crisis.
Tripathy also directed all major accident hazardous factories to update their standard operating procedure and enforce standard maintenance procedure in all major hazardous units.
He directed Rourkela Steel Plant and Indian Oil Corporation Limited to have specially designed HAZCHEM vehicles in their respective areas.
