Bhubaneswar: Eminent environmentalist of Odisha Nadia Chand Kanungo passed away at his residence at Niladri Vihar here on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 83.
His last rites were performed at the Swarga Dwara in Puri.
A native of Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district, Kanungo joined the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and retired as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
As an ardent lover of nature, Kanungo was a wildlife expert. Several of his articles on environment and wildlife were published in English and Odia dailies.
