Cuttack: Odia film dialogue writer Subodh Patnaik passed away due to cardiac arrest at his Kalinganagar residence here on Saturday morning. He was 65.
A doctor by profession, he started his career as a dialogue writer in Brajaraj movie’s Danda Balunga released in 1984. With punch-packed dialogues, he had scripted several hits for Ollywood. Some of his prominent films are ‘Sabu Mayare Baya’, ‘Janani’, ‘Jaga Hatare Pagha’, ‘Sankha Sindoora’, ‘Jai Phoola’, ‘Sahari Bagha’, ‘Chaka Bhaunri’, ‘Thili Jhia Heli Bohu’, ‘Eita Duniya’, Pua Mora Kala Thakura’, ‘Baje Bainsi Nache Ghungura’ and ‘To Binu Anya Gati Nahi’.
His association and unique bonding with Akshaya Mohanty is a golden page in annals of odia film industry.
Patnaik has also written many stories, plays and poems. His books include ‘Nija Nija Abhinaya’, ‘Kapurusha Mahapurusha’, ‘Aau Eka Janmara Prateekshyare’ and ‘Mahatma’. He was also involved in Odia Yuva Lekhaka Sammelan.
