Cuttack: The Odisha government will launch enforcement drive for High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) from January 15.
The State Transport Authority (STA), in a release on Tuesday, said as the deadline for affixation of HSRP on the old vehicles registered before Dt 01.04.19 having Odisha registration number ending with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 came to an end on December 31, 2022, the law enforcing agencies will enforce the fitment from January 15.
No e-challan will be issued and no fine collected or penal action taken against any vehicle owner for plying vehicles without HSRP till January 14. But challans will be issued in accordance with the last date given for various series of vehicles after that, the release stated.
In case the vehicle is not affixed with HSRP within the scheduled date, e-challan will be issued against the offending vehicle and attract fine of Rs 5000 or Rs 10,000 as the case may be.
LM Sethi, Additional Commissioner Transport (Enforcement) said, “As on January 9, total 35,56,819 vehicle owners have booked the slot. Out of them, HSRP has been affixed in 27,24,994 vehicles.”
Urging vehicle owners to get the HSRP affixed to their vehicles without delay, Sethi said, “The vehicle owners, who do not have access to the internet or do not have knowledge of technology, can apply for HSRP through nearby Mo Seva Kendra or HSRP facilitation centres at RTO as per their convenience.”
The deadline for vehicles carrying Odisha registration mark and registration number ending with 7 & 8 ends on December 31 and for those with the number ending with 9 and 0, the last date for affixation of HSRP is February 28.
