Engineer Beaten To Death On Rourkela Steel Plant Premises, One Arrested

Rourkela: An engineer was allegedly beaten to death by a contractual worker following a minor altercation on the premises of Rourkela Steel Plant here.

The deceased has been identified as G. Ganesh Kumar. He was working as an executive officer at Ferro Scrap Nigam Ltd.

According to sources, the accused, Anil Loahara of Kansara village in Sundergarh district, was upset for having been asked to report for work on a holiday and got into an argument with Kumar over it. In a fit of rage, he then hit him on the head with an iron rod while work on the plant was underway.

A profusely bleeding Kumar was immediately rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

On being informed, police reached the spot and arrested the accused.
