Kandhamal: A civil engineer was killed after the cement mixer truck in which he was travelling rammed a roadside tree near Dadanga under Dumudibandha police limits in Kandhamal district late on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Suryakant Senapati (25). He was working as a civil engineer at RKD Construction Private Ltd.
The accident took place when he was returning home. The driver, identified as Laxman Sethy, fled the spot soon after the accident, which is attributed to speed driving.
Suryakant was rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead.
On being, Dumudibandha police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem. A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the driver.
