Bhubaneswar: Following his arrest for allegedly harassing a PWD engineer, Patnagarh MLA Saroj Meher’s bail petition will be heard by the Additional District and Sessions Court in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Patnagarh has directed Meher and Prabina Rajhans, the wife of the harassed junior engineer Jayakant Sabar, to remain present at the hearing.
On Sunday, the engineer’s wife told the media that she was receiving threat calls from the MLA’s supporters.
Notably, the Patnagarh police had arrested Meher on June 24 for allegedly humiliating the engineer and forcing him to do sit-ups in public on June 4.
The engineer’s wife had lodged a police complaint against the MLA on June 6.
Earlier, the Patnagarh ADJ had rejected Meher’s bail petition and remanded him to judicial custody. The court had directed police to produce Meher on July 1 to hear his bail plea.
Meher is undergoing treatment at a Patnagarh hospital at present.
