Bhubaneswar: An engineering girl student allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room in the Odisha capital here late on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Ankita Jena, a second year student of the civil engineering department of CV Raman College here.
The body was found inside the hostel room by some staff of the educational institution.
Though the reason behind Ankita’s death is yet to be known, some of her friends alleged that she took the extreme step after being harassed over excess fee collected by the college authorities for the semester examinations.
On being informed about the incident, a team from Tamando police station reached the spot and started investigation.
Meanwhile, the body of the girl was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for postmortem by her family members.
