Dhenkanal: An engineering student died after his bike was hit by a speeding bus on National Highway-55 at Kantanala in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.
The incident triggered tension in the locality with locals blocking the NH for several hours demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. Owing to the road blockade, vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt on the highway.
On being informed about the incident, police immediately rushed to the spot and started investigation. Efforts are on to nab the bus driver, who fled the spot soon after the accident.
