Puri: In a tragic incident, a student of a Bhubaneswar-based engineering college drowned while bathing in the sea here on Sunday.
Asit Mohapatra, hailing from Jharsuguda, along with two of his friends went missing after being swept away by high tides.
Some locals managed to rescue one of the students, while Asit’s body was later fished out from the sea.
On being informed about the incident, police launched a search operation to trace another student, who is still missing.
According to reports, seven students of the private engineering college had gone to the sea beach near Mangala river mouth for picnic. Later, three of them went to the sea to take bath and drowned.
