Puri: A student of a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar drowned while bathing in the sea at Puri on Saturday.
Reports said that three students of a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar had gone to Puri in the morning. They later ventured out into the sea. While bathing near Swargadwara, one of the students got swept away by strong currents. Local fishermen recovered his body after an hour-long search.
The dead youth has been identified as Abhishek Pande of Bihar.
Sea Beach police later rushed to the spot and sent the body to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem. The body will be handed over to family members after post-mortem, the police said.
