Engineering Girl Student Found Hanging In Bhubaneswar, Male Friend Detained

Bhubaneswar: An engineering college girl was found hanging in a rented accommodation under Infocity police limits in Odisha capital on Thursday.

She has been identified as Jhumpa Debnath, a native of Tripura and a final year student of a city-based private engineering college. It is suspected that she committed suicide.

According to media reports, the house owner found the girl hanging from the ceiling when he went to check on her after a male friend of her’s created a ruckus in front of the house when she did not respond to his phone calls.

On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy.

Police have also detained her male friend for questioning.
