Bhubaneswar: The body of a final year engineering student was found hanging from a ceiling fan of a private mess in Odisha’s Baripada town on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Buddhaditya Naik, son of Dharmendra Naik of Badajambila village in Bishoi block of Mayurbhanj district.
He was a final year mechanical engineering student of a private engineering college in Laxmiposi locality near Baripada town.
Speaking about the incident, the bereaved father said he had a long telephonic conversation with his son on Sunday evening. He did not sound disturbed or worried everything seemed normal with him. He is shocked to learn he is no more. Upset with his son’s untimely demise, he demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
However, Buddhaditya’s friends claimed he was heard having a heated argument with someone over phone on Sunday night. But they could not confirm whom was he speaking with and why he took the extreme step.
Meanwhile, the local police have initiated a probe into the incident and sent the body for post mortem.
