Enumeration Of Physically-Challenged Children In Odisha From April 1

Bhubaneswar: The enumeration of physically-challenged children in Odisha will begin from April 1.

In a letter to the district collectors, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma said that it is necessary to ascertain the total number of such children in the state since the government has decided to provide them with better healthcare facilities and bring them to the mainstream through livelihood assistance.

He said that the enumeration of the physically-challenged children will be taken up by the Anganwadi workers and supervisors.

To ensure proper enumeration of these children, the Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) in all Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects and the District Social Welfare Officers (DSWOs) will arrange the training workshop for the Anganwadi workers and supervisors at the district level with a master trainer for each workshop.

The training workshop in Bhubaneswar began on March 1. It will be conducted in nine districts, including Mayurbhanj, from March 12 to March 17.

After the completion of the training, each district will form a five-member team for the enumeration. For the modus operandi of the team, the SSEPD Department will issue advisory and monitor the enumeration through the mobile app.
