Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Friday arrested one person allegedly involved in a land scam in Bhubaneswar.
The arrested person, identified as Bichitra Behera of Malipada in Khurda district, will be produced before the
Designated Court under OPID Act, Cuttack.
The racket involves illegal sale and purchase of the land by forged documentation and impersonation of the real owners. After the fraudulent sale of the land, the accused persons were going to sell it again to other parties.
The case was registered on the basis of the allegation of Lipika Das for fraudulent sale of her landed property with fake sale deeds by impersonating her and using forged documents. Subsequently, it was found that two more women – Satyabhama Das and Dharitri Mohanty – had also been victimised in the similar manner by the same racket.
During its investigation, the EOW found that Bichitra and his associates Antaryami Senapati, Arjun Senapati and Sujata Mohanty had conspired to sell a plot of the real owner Dharitri Mohanty in Malipada Mouza, Chandaka, Khurda. They fraudulently prepared the false sale deed by impersonating the real owner.
The impersonator lady Sujata Mohanty was introduced as the real owner to the buyers by Bichitra. They had also prepared false Aadhaar card by affixing the photograph of Sujata.
This gang is also involved in several such cases which are being scrutinised by EOW and action would be initiated in all cases, stated a release of EOW.
