Esmayeel Shroff Who Launched Govinda In Bollywood Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Bollywood director Esmayeel Shroff passed away at the age of 62 in Mumbai late on Wednesday.

According to media reports, he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital a month ago after suffering a heart attack.

Esmayeel Shroff had offered several hits including Agar, God and Gun, Ahista Ahista, Zid, Police Public, Majhdhaar, Dil Akhir Dil Hai, Bulundi, Nishchaiy, Suryaa, and Jhuta Sach.

He was the only director to do four films with the late veteran actor Raaj Kumar. The last film he directed was Thoda Tum Badlo, Thoda Hum, which was released in 2004.

Shroff rose to fame with his very first film Thodi Si Bewafai which starred Rajesh Khanna, Shabana Azmi, and Padmini Kolhapure and it was a blockbuster. He also launched Govinda in Bollywood with Love 86 in 1986.
