Bhubaneswar: Utkal Hospital began Evening Out Patient Department (OPD) services here on Friday.
The hospital will offer super-speciality consultative services in medicine, cardiology, surgery, dermatology, mental wellness, diagnostics, cosmetology, endocrinology, orthopaedics, geriatrics, diabetology, and many other fields from 5 pm to 10 pm every day.
The decision was taken after the hospital authorities observed that many office-going patients were unable to take leave in order to consult a doctor at the hospital.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Utkal Hospital and Comprehensive Cancer Centre earlier this year on April 5
The 200-bed hospital, offering high-end technology-based health care services to common people, was set up on the land provided by the state government.
The Institute of Cancer at the hospital is led by Dr Ranjan Kumar Mahapatra as the Director of Medical Services as well as HOD of the Cancer Unit.
