Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Saturday began an eviction drive in Baramunda area, where an inter-state bus terminal will be constructed.
The state government has decided to set up the inter-state bus terminal on 16.05 acres of land at the existing bus stand. Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd, a Central Public Sector Enterprise will be building the new terminal.
The new terminal will have a host of facilities like uninterrupted power supply, fire-fighting systems and an electronic board displaying the bus timings.
The terminal will also have a solar power system, sewerage treatment plant and intercom facility.
Protesting the eviction drive, the traders who had been doing business in the bus stand area for over 20 years have urged the state government to take steps for their rehabilitation and protect their livelihoods.
