Sambalpur: The district administration on Saturday began an eviction drive in the area near the periphery of Samaleswari Temple in the city.
According to official sources, the eviction has begun in Kamali Bazaar under Samaleswari Temple Area Management & Local Economy Initiatives (SAMALEI), in presence of the enforcement officer of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) and police force.
“Three government quarters of the Fisheries Departments will be demolished today while the quarters of the other departments will be demolished in a phased manner. For the periphery development of the temple, eviction will be carried out in 48 acres of land,” the sources added.
On February 17, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced SAMALEI for the development of Samaleswari temple and its periphery with a plan outlay of Rs 200 crore for 2021-22 fiscal.
