Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday appointed former Mayor of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Anant Narayan Jena as the chairperson of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
While the Housing and Urban Development minister is usually appointed as the BDA chairperson, the sudden decision taken by the party leadership to appoint Jena to the said post could be a move to rehabilitate him, political analysts opined.
Speculation has been rife in the political circles that the BJD leadership has decided against giving ticket to Jena as a candidate for the Bhubaneswar-Central constituency since there is every possibility that the Opposition will raise the sex CD issue to tarnish the party image.
