New York: Canada’s former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose confrontation with India over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar plunged relations between the two countries to an all-time low in 2023-24, seems to be miles away from politics these days.
The 53-year-old Trudeau, who stepped down earlier this year after a nine-year stint as prime minister, is in the news – for the wrong reasons.
A picture of Trudeau kissing American singer and TV personality Katy Perry went viral, attracting vicious trolling.
The zoomed-in photo of a shirtless Trudeau sharing an extremely intimate moment with Perry on board the latter’s luxury yacht, the Caravelle, off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, was published by Daily Mail.
Netizens pounced on Trudeau, who became quite unpopular after accusing India of being involved in the fatal shooting of Nijjar in Surrey, in Canada’s British Columbia.
Questions were asked as to whether Trudeau – rumoured to be dating Perry for months — has bid goodbye to Canada, after leaving his family.
Trudeau divorced his wife Sophie in 2023, after 18 years of marriage. They have two sons — Xavier, 18, and Hadrien, 11 — and a daughter named Ella-Grace, 16.

“Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry. One pretended to be an astronaut. One pretended to be a Prime Minister,” wrote another person, taking a swipe at Perry’s space tour on Blur Origin.
According to Daily Mail, their exclusive photos were clicked by a passenger on a tourist boat in September when Perry was enjoying a break from her Lifetimes World Tour.
“She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out. I didn’t realise who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy’s arm and I immediately realised it was Justin Trudeau,” the witness said.
The distinctive tattoo referred to is that of ‘Haida raven’, on Trudeau’s upper left arm, signifying an indigenous Canadian people famous for their seamanship and artistry.
Trudeau and the 40-year-old Perry, who were spotted together three months ago having an intimate dinner at a Montreal restaurant, have not yet commented on their relationship status.
