New Delhi: Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Ashwani Kumar was found dead at his Shimla residence on Wednesday evening.
According to Shimla SP Mohit Chawla, the 70-year-old Kumar allegedly committed suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
NDTV reported that the former Nagaland and Manipur Governor had been depressed for several weeks and that a suicide note was recovered.
A retired IPS officer from Himachal Pradesh cadre, Kumar served as DGP of the state between 2006 and 2008, before serving as CBI Director for two years.
