Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Tuesday said that the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be immersed in the Mahodadhi (Bay of Bengal) at Puri on Thursday.
Announcing this at a press briefing here, state BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said that state party president Basanta Panda would fly to Bhubaneswar from New Delhi with the ashes of the former Prime Minister on Wednesday. Later, it would be kept at the party’s state headquarters for people to pay their tributes.
“On Thursday, the ashes would be taken in a procession to Puri via Uttara Chhak and the Old Bhubaneswar-Puri road. After arriving in Puri, the party leaders would immerse the ashes following traditional rituals. We request the people and all party leaders to join the procession,” he said.
A day after the immersion, there will be an all-party assembly at the Exhibition Ground here in the memory of the Late Prime Minister, he added.
