New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has been diagnosed with dengue. He had been admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Wednesday evening after developing fever and complaining of weakness.
AIIMS officials informed on Saturday that the 89-year-old veteran Congress leader’s health condition is improving.
“He has been diagnosed with dengue, but his platelet count is now increasing and his condition is improving,” AIIMS informed.
He is in a private ward in the cardio-neuro centre of AIIMS and is being treated by a team of cardiologists led by Dr Nitish Naik.
Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s visit to the hospital on Thursday led to a controversy. The minister allegedly took a photographer with him while visiting Dr Singh.
Dr Singh’s daughter Daman Singh hit out at Mandaviya for taking a photographer along, against the family’s wish.
The Print quoted the daughter as saying that that her mother was very upset, as she insisted that photographer should leave the room, but she was completely ignored.
“She was very upset. My parents are trying to cope in a difficult situation. They are elderly people. Not animals in a zoo,” Daman Singh said.
