Bhubaneswar: Bharatpur police in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar have arrested a former vete
rinary college professor on charges of allegedly harassing a student, seeking sexual favours, and circulating her morphed photographs on social media.
The accused has been identified as Ajit Gupta, a native of Hooghly in West Bengal who currently resides in the state capital. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the student on June 9.
According to police, the accused allegedly lured the victim to Kolkata in February 2024, where he initially misbehaved with her. Although the university dismissed him in April 2024 following her formal complaint, the suspect persisted in harassing her. He circulated her morphed images on social media to defame her, holding her responsible for his dismissal.
