Keonjhar: A former sarpanch and her husband were allegedly found murdered at a village in Hatadihi area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The incident was reported from Mayurnacha village under the Hatadihi block of the district. The deceased were identified as Rambha Patra, a former sarpanch of K Baliapal panchayat, and her husband Niranjan Patra, who was a ‘Gram Rakhi’ at the local police outpost.
As per preliminary information, unidentified miscreants reportedly entered their house late on Wednesday night killed the couple, and dumped their bodies in a well near their house.
After getting information, a team of police personnel visited the spot and recovered the bodies which were sent for postmortem. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
While the exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the couple was killed over some past enmity. Further details are awaited.
