Ex-Telangana Chief Minister KCR Undergoes Hip Replacement Surgery

Hyderabad: Former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who had to be rushed to Yasodha Hospital after falling down in his farmhouse on Thursday night, underwent successful hip replacement surgery on Saturday.

“KCR’s hip bone replacement surgery was completed under the guidance of Yashoda doctors. The doctors who released the health bulletin revealed that the surgery performed on KCR was a success. They said that his body responded well to the surgery. As the operation was successful, KCR was shifted from the operation theatre to the general room,” Bharat Raksha Samithi (BRS) wrote on X.

It took almost one-and-a-half hours for the team of doctors to perform the surgery.

He is likely to be discharged from hospital in two to three days.

According to doctors, it will take 6 to 8 weeks for KCR to recover fully.

“Doctors are confident that in about 2 to 3 days, KCR will be discharged and, because of the blessings of Telangana’s 4 crore population and also the Almighty’s blessings, his operation was successful. We are hopeful he will be back in action in the service of Telangana, in the service of the people of Telangana within 6 to 8 weeks,” BRS leader Dasoju Sravan said.

A statement issued by Yasodha Hospital, where the BRS chief was admitted earlier on Thursday, said that KCR fell in his bathroom and sustained a left hip fracture, which will need replacement.

Two-time chief minister KCR, who was unseated in the recent Assembly elections by Congress, slipped and fell in his bathroom.

“On evaluation, including CT scans, he was found to have a left hip fracture (extracapsular neck of femur fracture). He would require left hip replacement for the same and the usual course of recovery for such cases is expected to be six to eight weeks,” the hospital said in a statement on Friday.
