Jharsuguda: In a shocking incident, former vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University Prof Dhruva Raj Naik was allegedly hacked to death by a miscreant at his residence at Kuaramal village under Laikera police limits in Jharsuguda district on Sunday.
Talking to mediapersons, Arjun Nayak, brother of the former vice-chancellor, said that a drunkard youth of Kuaramal village came to their residence and asked the former VC for Rs 100. When he refused, the youth called him out of the house and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
“We immediately rushed him to the district headquarters hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead,” he added.
Meanwhile, Laikera police have detained the accused for interrogation.
