Berhampur: An excise constable sustained serious injuries on eye after being attacked by bootleggers in Odisha’s Berhampur on Monday.
The incident reportedly took place near Telephone Bhavan under Berhampur Town police limits.
The constable, Sabyasachi Mishra, was attacked while taking pictures of illegal liquor trade at a shop in a nearby lane.
Police have registered a case and arrested one person in this connection, while four others have been detained, sources said.
According to sources, liquor was being sold illegally at the location for past several days.
Mishra, in civil dress, had to face the wrath of bootleggers while filming the illegal activity on his mobile phone, sources added.
Excise sleuths acted promptly and sealed the shop following the attack yesterday afternoon.
