Bhubaneswar: Excise department officials have arrested eight persons allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade and seized 238 liters of country-made liquor in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
According to source, the seizure was made during a special operation launched by the Excise department against illegal liquor making and sale at different locations in Odisha capital.
Raids were carried out following information that smuggling of illegal country-made liquor was active in different areas including Bharatpur, Kharabela Nagar, and near Capital Police Station.
Officials of the Excise department seized the illegal liquor from different places and nabbed eight people in this connection.
Those arrested are being interrogated to gather information about involvement of others in the racket. Further investigation is in progress, the sources added.
