Bhubaneswar: Excise officials seized brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh and arrested one person in this connection in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
As per reports, a team of Excise officials on patrolling duty near Raghunathapur Bridge under Nandan Kanan police station found the person moving on a two-wheeler suspiciously. They intercepted him and searched him and his vehicle.
During the search, the Excise officials found 108 gm of brown sugar in possession of the man identified as SK Raju’s. They arrested Raju and seized the contraband and the vehicle.
Earlier on the day, the State Flying Squad seized 219 gram of heroin worth Rs 68,30,000 from Bharatpur and Palasuni in the city. Four persons including two women, who were found in possession of the narcotics, were arrested.
All the arrested persons have been forwarded to the court.
