Exit Polls: BJP Set To Win 7th Straight Term In Gujarat; AAP Flops In 2 States

New Delhi: Exit poll results were out on Monday evening, shortly after voting for the second and final phase of Gujarat Assembly elections ended.

And if exit polls are to be believed, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to for a seventh consecutive term in Gujarat with at least a two-thirds majority and will also win an unprecedented second term in Himachal Pradesh, though it will be a much closer race in the hilly state.

The Congress is predicted to finish second in both states, but the most striking figures are those of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which left no stone unturned to emerge as a major force on BJP’s ‘home’ turf. Arvind Kejriwal’s party is set to flop big time, belying promises of toppling the saffron party.

Gujarat Rout

There are 182 seats in Gujarat Assembly, with the majority mark being 92.

Republic-P Marq survey has given BJP between 128 and 148 seats, Congress between 30 and 42, AAP less than 10.

TV9 Bharatvarsh survey gives BJP 125 to 130 40-50 seats, Congress 40 to 50 and AAP less than 5 seats.

Jan Ki Baat has projected 117-140 seats for BJP, 34 to 51 for Congress and 6 to 13 for AAP.

Himachal Scenario

The strength of Assembly in the hilly state is 68 and the majority mark is 35.

Republic-P Marq gives BJP a majority of 34-39 seats, while Congress may run close (28-33) and AAP will struggle to open its account.

Jan Ki Baat predicts a close win for BJP at 32-40, and 27-34 for Congress.

ETG-TNN poll has given a clear majority of 38 seats to BJP, 28 to Congress and nil to AAP.

TV9’s survey predicts a hung assembly, with BJP 33, Congress 31 and others 4.

However, India Today Axis My India poll has Congress slightly in front at 30-40 with BJP getting 24-34 seats.

Delhi MCD Polls

AAP’s only reason to smile is the Delhi civic elections, which Kejriwal’s party is shown to be winning comfortably in all polls.
