Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Tuesday issued a yellow warning (heavy rainfall) for Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam on November 20.
A few places in South Odisha and one or two places in North Odisha are also likely to experience thundershowers.
“The low-pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman sea now lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and It is likely to move nearly westwards and reach Westcentral and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh north Tamilnadu coasts on November 18,” the IMD said in its mid-day bulletin.
Under the influence of the system, squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over westcentral Bay of Bengal on November 18. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into deep sea areas on this day.
In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain/thundershower occurred at several places in North and South Coastal Odisha, at one or two places in South Interior Odisha with very heavy rainfall at one place in Ganjam and one or two places in Nayagarh and Angul.
The Met Office has forecast light to moderate rain at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh and at one or two places in the rest of the state.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal are likely to experience similar weather conditions on November 17.
Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at one or two places in the rest of the state on November 18.
