Keonjhar: A pregnant woman died at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital on Tuesday and her family cried ‘medical negligence’.
The deceased was identified as Jhunu Munda of Kaunrikala village of Suakathi in the district. Her husband, Jogendra Munda, alleged that she died due to negligence of ASHA didi and the doctors at the hospital.
According to sources, Jogendra informed the ASHA when his wife complained of labour pain last night. “Instead of attending to her, she advised me to take her to the hospital in an autorickshaw,” he said.
They reached hospital at 1 am. “The doctors also didn’t attend to her, following which she died,” he alleged.
A doctor of the hospital refuted the allegation. “She had died when we received her at the hospital. The woman was anemic and her gynecologist had advised that she be admitted to hospital. But they had refused earlier.”
