Bhubaneswar: Expelled Congress leader and former MLA of Koraput Krushna Chandra Sagaria will join the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Informing the media here, Sagaria said the address of the Congress president Rahul Gandhi at a public meeting in Bhubaneswar on Friday had no mention about the backward communities. “The Congress, which has not done anything to uplift the tribals, only knows how to play around their votes,” he pointed out.
Sagaria had formally resigned as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on November 6 last year and attributed it to his failure to provide justice to the Kunduli minor gang rape victim despite being the people’s representative of Koraput.
The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) had expelled Sagaria from the primary membership of the party on disciplinary grounds following the recommendation of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) for his adverse remarks on the leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra. He had also severely criticized OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
