Bhubaneswar: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Konark Wheel of Odisha installed at Nicosia, capital of Cyprus during an official visit.
Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to Cyprus as it celebrates 60 years of diplomatic relations with India. During his first official visit to Cyprus in western Asia, he went to see the wheel from the Sun Temple at Konark in Odisha. The Konark Wheel was gifted by India to Cyprus in 2017.
Following the visit, the Foreign Minister posted a picture with his Cyprus Foreign Minister and Interior Minister at the site of Konark Wheel along with a message in his Twitter handle. He termed the Konark Wheel as a symbol of strong friendship between the two countries.
“Visited the Konark wheel installed in the Cyprus Foreign Ministry with FM @IKasoulides and Interior Minister @NourisNicos,” Jaishankar tweeted along with pictures. A gift from India in 2017, it symbolises the strong friendship between our nations,” Jaishankar tweeted.
The two countries released commemorative stamps on Thursday on the occasion of 75 years of India’s Independence and 60 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
On Friday, Jaishankar addressed a business community event in Limassol where he spoke about expanding the India-Cyprus bilateral economic relationship.
