Angul: Two days after the eyes of a dead four-year-old girl were gouged out at Angul district headquarters (DDH) hospital, a similar incident involving an accident victim was reported from the same hospital on Monday night.
Sources said Jambheshwar Nayak of Kuskila village was killed in a road accident on Monday night and the body was sent to the hospital for postmortem.
The family of the deceased alleged that his right eye was gouged out while the body was kept in the mortuary. They staged a dharna by keeping the body in front of the CDMO’s office and demanded action against the hospital authorities.
In the previous case, the girl’s family had blocked the main gate of the OPD and sat on a dharna in protest. The CDMO had later met the family. The girl’s father was given a contractual job and compensation of Rs 50,000.
The girl was declared brought dead to the hospital and the body kept in the morgue for postmortem. When the body was brought for postmortem on Friday morning, her eyes were found to be gouged out and the nose was partially cut.
