Cuttack: With face mask taking a make-over from health precaution to a daily wear, it has made its way to designer’s book and ethnic lover’s creation. Now, it has assumed the gold avatar.
A businessman from Cuttack – Odisha’s Silver City – has come up with a gold mask. With fascination for gold since childhood, on his own admission, Alok Mohanty was inspired to wear a gold mak after he saw some people in Mumbai and Surat flaunting masks made of gold and fitted with diamond and jewels before national media.
When he contacted a jeweller in the city with the proposal to prepare a mask of gold, the latter agreed. “The jeweller got a M-95 mask and then stitched gold plates and wires on it. Around 100 gm of gold has been used to prepare the mask,” Alok said.
The gold netted mask, which took 22 days to prepare, cost around Rs 3.5 lakh, said the businessman who is also a social activist.
