Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested a woman from Puri for allegedly looting cash and ornaments from the house of a youth, who she had befriended on Facebook.
The accused has been identified as Pihu Biswas, a resident of Kolkata.
According to a complaint lodged by the youth at Saheed Nagar police station, the woman had introduced herself as a staff of a reputed college.
She visited him on August 15. After staying at his place for some days, she offered him some prasad and sugar candy by adding sedatives. When the youth fell unconscious, she decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh.
The investigation revealed that that the woman was using a fake Facebook profile.
After her tracking her call records, a team of Saheed Nagar Police nabbed the woman from Puri. She was then brought to Bhubaneswar for further interrogation, police sources said.
