Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger were hit by a major outage on Monday evening.
The issues started some time after 9 pm and seemed to affect several parts of the world.
Hundreds of Twitter users made #instagramdown and #facebookdown trending on the micro-blogging platform as they couldn’t access the Facebook-owned social media sites.
Facebook’s official Andy Stone took to Twitter to acknowledge the problem and issue an apology.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Stone tweeted.
The issue had not been resolved till 10.30 pm.
