New Delhi: Bharat Biotech has disclaimed a social media image of the company’s vice president, Dr VK Srinivas, being injected with a COVID-19 vaccine.
The company clarified that the image was that of a routine test for all employees.
“Certain images and messages being circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms have NOT been disseminated by Bharat Biotech. The image being circulated is a routine procedural blood draw for testing all production staff,” a Biotech statement said on Friday.
The image of the company’s VP had gone viral on social media. The accompanying caption claimed that Dr Srinivas was the first person in India to be injected with the vaccine developed by him and his team.
Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) announced that it has collaborated with Bharat Biotech for fast-tracking clinical trials of India’s first COVID-19 vaccine (BBV152 COVID Vaccine).
According to ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava, they are targeting an August 15 launch of the vaccine.
