New Delhi: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has landed in a controversy again.
Twitterati have accused him of appeasing the Muslim community by raising ‘Allahu Akbar’ slogans at Sunday’s kisan mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Some even went to the extent of comparing Tikait with Taliban.
The video, however, is doctored.
While Tikait did say ‘Allahu Akbar’ at the farmers’ rally, he also asked participants to say ‘Har Har Mahadev’ together, to show solidarity.
The original video can be seen on PunjabTak Facebook page.
Tikait is heard saying in Hindi, “This government will try to instigate riots. Earlier too, when Tikait sahab was there, this slogan was raised Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar.” He was referring to his father Mahendra Singh Tikait.
He added, “Allahu Akbar and Har Har Mahadev were always raised together from here. These slogans will be raised together in future too. These people will try to divide us but we will keep on integrating”.
