Mumbai: Days after Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, a social media post claiming that actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint her as the next Union Education Minister has gone viral.
The viral post read, “I request Narendra Modi ji to appoint me as the Education Minister of India. I understand the importance of education because I was the first person to show people the truth that India attained independence in 2014.”
The post further claimed that Kangana had a special “plan for NEET”, suggesting that students who watched her films in theatres would receive bonus marks.
It also sarcastically claimed that the move could help bring an end to her “streak of flops.”
However, the claim is misleading, as Kangana never made any such post. A closer examination of the viral content suggests that it was AI-generated.
Kangana has, so far, neither reacted to the viral post nor issued any statement regarding the claim.
Amid growing criticism over alleged examination irregularities, including concerns surrounding NEET-UG, Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down as Union Education Minister.
His resignation followed the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) ‘Chalo Sansad’ march at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, along with similar protests organised across the country.
In his resignation letter shared on X, he wrote, “My young friends, for more than four decades, I have remained dedicated to students, teachers, and education reforms. I have always believed that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system is the foundation of a strong nation.”
He added, “I deeply respect the aspirations, emotions, and legitimate expectations of the youth of the country. Turning the dreams of India’s young generation into reality has been a moral commitment of all of us in political and social life. I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving me the opportunity to serve the nation under his visionary leadership.”
Pralhad Joshi is now India’s Education Minister, having assumed charge of the ministry on July 25, 2026.
On the professional front, Kangana was last seen in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ and is currently working on her upcoming film ‘Queen 2’.
