An image of a letter, apparently signed by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, to Uttarakhand chief secretary praising his efforts in organizing the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar has raised eyebrows on social media.
The Kumbh Mela has drawn massive criticism with many describing it as a COVID super-spreader event.
Eminent lawyer Prashant Bhushan also tweeted the image, but deleted it later.
The letter, however, is fake. There were several grammatical errors in the letter. India Today reported that Uttarakhand chief secretary Om Prakash, to whom the viral letter is addressed, also denied receiving any such letter.
