New Delhi: Visuals of a Maruti WagonR getting toppled due to strong winds in Rajasthan are doing rounds on social media.
Maruti is often criticized for its ‘light build’ and low-weight cars. The WagonR, one of the best selling cars in India, is also lighter than its competitions at 910 kg.
However, it is not yet verified why the car in the photographs toppled over.
The post, which was done on an unofficial Maruti WagonR owners group, read “yesterday here was a windy situation about 30-40 km/h was the speed of the wind. The WagonR is toppled in the wind this shows the pathetic build quality of Maruti Suzuki, this is unacceptable, just for some profit they play with the lives of people.”
Cars and other heavy vehicles are also known to get blown over in strong wind blasts.
It is important to note that the safety of a car can’t be judged by its weight alone. The WagonR scores 2 stars on the Global NCAP crash test while its competitor such as Tata’s Tiago gets 4 stars.
