Mumbai: The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested 34-year-old Milind Tusankar of Khed district for allegedly sending extortion messages to filmmaker Mahesh Majrekar.
According to a Times Of India report, Tusankar, who lost his livelihood due to the ongoing pandemic, had been sending messages to the filmmaker, demanding a ransom of Rs 35 crore, by impersonating as a member of Abu Salem’s gang.
On receiving the messages, the filmmaker lodged a complaint with the Mumbai police.
“As the case was sensitive and extortion bid was involved, it was transferred to the Anti-Extortion Cell for investigation,” the police official was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Mahesh Manjrekar has directed movies like ‘Vaastav: The Reality’, ‘Astitva’ and ‘Viruddh’.
