With stricter curbs and restrictions resurfacing amid the second wave of coronavirus infections in the country, speculations and rumours have restarted on lockdowns and curfews. An image claiming complete lockdown in six major cities of Gujarat, from April 11, is doing rounds on social media.
The letter claims to be from the Gujarat state Home department.
However, the image is fake. Gujarat Police’s Twitter handle has confirmed it and asks people not to believe such rumours. It also urges people to verify such news before forwarding it.
Gujarat is among the worst-affected states, with 3,575 new coronavirus cases being reported in the last 24 hours. Over 71.86 lakh people have been administered one dose of the vaccine here.
